Below Par Rules 2011

  • Tee times are assigned on the schedule. To facilitate speedy play, if, at the time you are scheduled to tee off, your foursome has not arrived at the tee box, and is not immediately visible, the next scheduled foursome may tee off. Upon arriving to the tee, late teams that missed their scheduled start time may take the tee box as the next team off. Slow teams may consider letting faster teams play through if it is apparent that you are consistently holding up play.

  • All matches are scored on a 22-point handicap system using a mutant USGA system using the average of rounds played up through the first six weeks. Thereafter it is a 6-week rolling handicap using your previous 6 weeks scores.

  • We all need to reschedule a match from time to time. Missed matches must be made up before the end of the day of the next scheduled league night. Every attempt should be made to reschedule and play with your opposing team. If you are unable to reschedule with your opponent, you may play individually. Scores not received by the end of the following league night will result in your match being scored using your first occurring highest round of play for that side.

  • Any player can play as the sub for there absent teammate and use their round to be scored against both opponents' scores. This MUST be announced before the round begins to be allowed.

  • You can't win a skin if you are using a sub, using your worst round, or not playing on regular league night (providing there was a regular league night).

  • You may NOT adjust or improve your ball's lie and/or pick it up to remove mud unless pick-clean-and-replace is determined to be in effect prior to the round beginning due to course conditions. Pick-clean-and-replace will be announced prior to league start each week.

  • On all nights, if your balls lies in casual water (rain-made puddles), it may be moved to the closest dry ground, no closer to the pin. This does not include the natural ditches on the course.

  • Plugged Ball - On all nights if your ball plugs in the ground, it may be picked, cleaned and replaced.

  • You may NOT move your ball to avoid any non-manmade obstacle such as branches, roots, rocks, and stumps. You may however move your ball if your swing is impeded in anyway by any manmade obstacle such as cart path, fencepost, sprinklers, or signs.

  • If your ball goes next to or under a tree, you can move (not break or remove) branches only to get yourself into position to make your golf swing. You or your partner may not hold back, bend, or break branches to improve your intended golf swing or improve your path to the green. Doing this is a one stroke penalty. You may break branches accidentally in the act of swinging however with no penalty. See official USGA rule 13-2.

  • Ball Unplayable - You may declare your ball unplayable at anytime and take a one stroke penalty, move your ball to a place of nearest relief, no closer to the hole.

  • Lost Ball or Out of Bounds - take a one stroke penalty, place your back ball in play, within 2 club lengths, of the closest playable location where you believe it was lost or it went out of bounds, no closer to the hole.

  • Out of bounds lines are defined by visible white stakes or by rules set forth on the course's card.

  • The $1 MOLE is in effect this year. A MOLE is similar to a mulligan in that it allows you to re-tee a drive for $1 but it also has the added benefit of increasing the fund for our year-end party. One MOLE is permitted per round. It can only be used on a tee shot and only on a par 4 or 5 (not a par 3). Mark the scorecard with an "M" if you purchase a mole and pay your $1 to Tom Gannon at the end of the round.

  • If you suspect your opponent may have improperly scored a hole please confront them at that time not after the match. If someone asks you to verify a score, please don't get mad, just go over the hole with your opponent to verify. Everyone makes a mistake once in awhile.

  • Any disputes that can't be resolved can be brought to the elected league officials where a final decision will be determined via vote.
